TPN Update – Winter 2023

Welcome to this edition of the TPN Newsletter, which comes with all our best
wishes for 2023!

As we pass the mid-point mark for the mandates of the European Commission and the US Government and under the two Presidencies of Joe Biden and Ursula Von der Leyen, joint efforts for transatlantic partnership are delivering a unifying sense of purpose to tackle both immediate and strategic challenges.

TPN is embracing these challenges with a forward-looking agenda: developing a
project designed to strengthen the resilience of transatlantic relations called
“Fireproofing The EU US Relationship: In Search of a New Compass,” and
encouraging next-generation transatlanticists to shape the agenda in new ways
based on the development of platforms, like a Staffers Network drawn from the
European Parliament and US Congress.

In this first edition of our update for 2023, we include two keynote articles, the
first from Bruce Stokes, visiting senior fellow of the German Marshall Fund and
the executive director of its Transatlantic Task Force, titled Fireproofing US-EU
Cooperation by Adding Resilience, which first appeared in Roll Call. The second
is from Hendrik Bourgeois, vice president, European Government Affairs,
Intel Corporation, titled Semiconductors and the Emergence of Industrial Policy
as a Key Transatlantic Policy Tool.
